Time: 7-10pm
Cost: $10 (MRBA members/seniors/veterans $8)
Opening Act to be announced
The Growling Old Men, John Lowell (guitar) Ben Winship (mandolins), are a couple of the most recorded and popular bluegrass musicians from these parts. Both are great songwriters and share a passion for fishing. They were selected to perform on the Prarie Home Companion when Garrison Keillor brought his live radio show to Missoula in 2009. They have been members of some of the best bluegrass bands to come out of the Rocky Mountain west, Deep River, Wheel Hoss, Kanes River and Loose Ties. They’ve graced the stage at numerous Missoula First Nights. This summer has them appearing with Kane’s River for a reunion show at the Targhee Bluegrass. We’re lucky to have them making a stop in Missoula. You won’t want to miss this rare opportunity to see John and Ben play in this intimate concert settting.

Our kick-off concert. Come out and show your support for this new Bluegrass/Americana music venue and concert series.
Our first show features the fantastic 23 String Band with Derailed opening.
Hailing from all around Kentucky, the 23 String Band pays homage to the deep roots of American traditional music, while pushing forward with genre-bending, hard-driving originals and distinctive arrangements. Their youthful brand of “original hillbilly music” weaves in and out of old-time, bluegrass, acoustic roots, and anything else that strikes their fancy — it’s not uncommon to hear a Beastie Boys cover by these boys. It’s a contagious conglomeration that’s entertaining and energetic, and will get you on your feet and dancing every time!
