Share on FacebookIn my class Wordpress: Web Development for the Right Side of the Brain I teach the value of building a Web Presence versus just a website. The ultimate goal of your web presence is to drive traffic to your website and ultimately to produce sales.
Many artists get started with online sales through the popular website, Etsy. Etsy is designed to make it very simple for “rightbrainers” to use and it only takes a few minutes to setup an online shop. At writing, Etsy boasts 800 million sellers. There’s “strength in numbers” when it comes to online marketing. However, placing your work on Etsy alone is not going to guarantee sales. Etsy is another facet to your web presence, like your Facebook page, YouTube Channel and Flickr page.
Speaking of Etsy and facebook, some enterprising individual has come up with a Facebook application designed to help retailers set up online shops on Facebook. The startup, Payvment, has an Etsy-to-Facebook export tool that lets Payvment users import their entire Etsy inventories and sell them via their Facebook Pages.

The startup announced on Monday that it has acquired Momologie, a free site and newsletter run by two former editors of Martha Stewart Living. ThredUP’s website will now host a daily discussion around a single magazine-style article in addition to managing hand-me-down exchanges.

What is Kickstarter?
Kickstarter is a new way to fund creative ideas and ambitious endeavors. We believe that… • A good idea, communicated well, can spread fast and wide.
• A large group of people can be a tremendous source of money and encouragement.Kickstarter is powered by a unique all-or-nothing funding method where projects must be fully-funded or no money changes hands.Â
All-or-nothing funding?
Every Kickstarter project must be fully funded before its time expires or no money changes hands.
Why?  Â
- It’s less risk for everyone. If you need $5,000, it’s tough having $2,000 and a bunch of people expecting you to complete a $5,000 project.
- It allows people to test concepts (or conditionally sell stuff) without risk. If you don’t receive the support you want, you’re not compelled to follow through. This is huge!
- It motivates. If people want to see a project come to life, they’re going to spread the word.
